Assassin’s Creed Love

I am completely obsessed with Assassin’s Creed and that’s been happening long before the game release. I would think by now I’d be sick of playing it, but I am far from that.

To me, this is everything a video game should be - visually stunning, the character’s animation is smooth, all of your actions have consequences and rewards, the AIs are aware of your presences depending on how you expose yourself, every buildings and objects you see are there for you to jump on and climb. What really impressed me is how much time the developpers and producers over at Ubisoft spent on research and making sure key characters and cities during the Third Crusade in 1191 were close to being accurate and how much passion they showed for Assassin’s Creed.

The fact that I am now an occasional gamer and can hardly find the time to finish any games in a day is a good thing. It allows me to “savour” my role as Desmond/Altaïr when I actually do sit down and pick up the controller. This is the kind of game you need to spend time on exploring and jumping around from rooftop to rooftop to a 100 ft drop leading to desynchronisation, playing at your own pace instead of pushing yourself to beat the game as fast as you can. I love saving citizens, I love doing informers’ missions, I love climbing walls with passerbys scolding me for acting like a child, I love randomly discovering hidden flags when I’m not immediately going straight for 2-3 investigations for an assassination. All of this is very satisfactory. I feel this is what went wrong with most of the negative reviewers. How many of this did they enjoy? The pre-assassination missions will be repetitive if you’re completing the game in 3 hours and skipping the extra free missions.

The only minor things I hate about the games? Those drunks and wtfarethey who shove you and beggars who get in your way of everything!   You try and be polite by gently pushing them aside, but no luck. If I shove them back or give ‘em a little smack, everyone turns against you, no matter how many good deeds you’ve accomplished. They’re lucky I’m a bleeding heart assassin.

I am sort of dreading it as I am getting closer to the last memory block, I don’t want this to end. How long until the next installement?
